DAE get stuck on a rock-solid clay post hole?
Had one in a backyard in Akron that my auger just bounced off of. Poured a gallon of water in and let it sit overnight, came back and it dug like butter. Anyone got a better fix for that kind of ground?

Hold up, I gotta disagree with the soapy water trick. In my experience, that just makes a slick mess and doesn't actually soften the clay. Plain water works, but it takes forever. What I do now is just use a digging bar to break it up first. It's more work up front, but you get the hole done in one go instead of waiting a whole day.

Oh man, I saw a video where someone used soapy water for that.

Honestly I tried the soapy water thing last summer and it was a total disaster. It just made the ground slippery and didn't really help break up the hard clay at all. I'm with ivan on this, using a digging bar or even a pickaxe first saves so much time and frustration. Sometimes the old school way is just better, lol.
