Spent $60 on a fancy fermentation crock and it cracked on first use
I bought this nice German made crock from a local store in Portland, figured it'd last forever. Got it home, filled it with cabbage for sauerkraut, and woke up to a puddle of brine on my counter. The whole thing split right down the side overnight. Has anyone else had luck with those cheaper plastic fermenting buckets instead?

@mark_cooper tried a bucket after my crock failed. Dog knocked it over three times. Total mess.

$60 for a German crock that cracks overnight? That's rough. Mark_cooper might be onto something about the countertop level though, my buddy had a similar split after setting his on a wobbly table.
