Stripped a screw on my storm door hinges last Saturday, tried the rubber band trick and it actually worked
I was swapping out the old hinges on my storm door and one screw just would not catch. It was stripped bad and I was about to give up and call a handyman for $75. Then I remembered some post about putting a rubber band over the screw head. I grabbed a thick one from my junk drawer and pressed it in there with my drill. The screw bit right in and the door closes perfect now. Has anyone else tried that trick or have another way to fix stripped holes without buying a whole kit?

$75 for a handyman lmao. Rubber band trick saved my bacon on a ceiling fan bracket last month. It's hit or miss but when it hits it feels like magic.

Oh man, I gotta disagree with the hype on this one. I tried the rubber band trick on a stripped screw in my cabinet handle and it just shredded the band into little pieces that got stuck in the hole. Now I have a mess of black rubber bits and the screw still won't hold. Honestly I think people get lucky sometimes but it's not this miracle fix everyone makes it out to be. Just grab a $5 screw repair kit from the hardware store and save yourself the frustration lol.
