Picked up a box of old keys for $5 and found something wild inside

I mean, it was just a random cardboard box at the flea market in Springfield, full of maybe a hundred old house keys. Figured I could use some for art projects or something. When I got home and dumped them out, a little brass locket fell from the bottom of the pile. Opened it up and there was a tiny, faded photo of a couple from maybe the 1940s. Idk, it just felt weirdly special compared to the junk I usually find. Has anyone else ever found a hidden personal item tucked inside something they bought in bulk?

Ugh, that's just sad. Some family probably lost a keepsake forever because it got mixed in with trash. You're basically holding onto someone else's forgotten memory.

your mileage may vary" and all that, but how do you actually know that locket wasn't tossed on purpose? Like, maybe someone wanted it gone for a reason.

That "weirdly special" feeling is the whole point. You didn't just buy a box of metal, you bought a piece of someone's history they forgot to throw away. The locket was probably in a drawer with those keys for decades before it all got sold off.
