A bride's mom pointed out my centerpieces were too tall

Last month, I did a wedding where the mother of the bride pulled me aside. She said, 'No one can see each other across the table, they're just talking to the flowers.' I realized I'd been building arrangements to 18 inches tall without thinking about sight lines. Now I cap all seated table pieces at 12 inches max. It seems obvious now, but I was just focused on the drama. Has anyone else had a client give you a simple fix you'd completely missed?

Oh man, talk about missing the forest for the trees! I once made a centerpiece so tall the guests had to pass notes around it.

That's a classic mistake, @the_lucas. Keep centerpieces low enough so people can actually see each other. It makes the whole table feel more connected.

Jamiew24 gets it, unlike my note-passing cousin.
