Everybody keeps saying Freaks and Geeks was cancelled too soon, but they forget the real reason it died

I was at a bar last month talking to some film student who swore it was because of network meddling. But my uncle worked on the crew back in 1999 and he told me the actual problem was the show kept getting stuck in this weird time slot limbo. NBC moved it around 4 different nights in one season, and nobody could find it. Has anyone else heard a different inside story about why a favorite old show tanked?

That time slot limbo thing makes a lot of sense actually. I remember trying to watch that show and giving up because I could never figure out when it was on. It's a real shame when a good show gets killed by stuff like that instead of just being bad.

My DVR was my lifesaver for exactly this kind of thing. I set it to record the whole series even though I had no idea when the next episode would air, and then I just watched it all whenever I had a free Saturday. The network kept moving it around between 8 and 10pm, sometimes even skipping a week, and by the third season I just gave up checking the schedule. I think cable networks especially think everyone watches on demand now, but they forget a lot of us still flip through channels. Did you ever catch up with that show later on streaming?
