Switched from a basic leather apron to a full aluminized coat last month... the difference in heat protection is night and day.

Used to think my old leather apron was fine, just dealt with the hot spots. Then I caught a real splash on my new coat and it just rolled right off, didn't even feel the heat. Totally changed my mind, that leather would have let that through in a heartbeat. Now I feel stupid for waiting so long to upgrade.

Yeah, that aluminized coat is a game changer. But @miajenkins, you weren't stupid before, leather's still way better than just a cotton shirt, right? It's just a solid step up.
