Sat in a coffee shop in Austin and saw three people all working on the same client pitch

I was at a place on South Congress, just trying to get some writing done. At the table next to me, two people were huddled over a laptop, and a third person joined them on a video call. They were all clearly freelancers, and they were all talking about the same project for a big tech company. It was wild to see that much competition for one job, all in the same room. How do you even stand out when you're up against people you can literally see?

Man, that's a tough spot to be in. You're trying to focus on your own work but you can't help but hear your direct competition. Makes you wonder if you should just pack up and find another cafe, right?

I had that happen at the library last week with someone talking loudly about their marketing plan. It completely kills your focus. Sometimes moving is the only way to get your brain back on track. I feel like you have to protect your own headspace in those moments.

Wait, they were all pitching the same client in the same room?
