Hit $40 on eggs this week and realized free-range from the farmer's market lasts twice as long

I compared the $8 store brand eggs that went bad in 2 weeks to the $10 farmer's market ones that were still good after a month, so now I'm wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing with their milk or produce?

Funny you mention that because I spent a solid hour last week trying to figure out why my fancy $9 milk was chunky after only 4 days. Turns out the farmer's market milk was just that fresh - I didn't realize I needed to actually check the sell-by date on the carton. Real big brain moment when I realized the farmer probably handed me a bottle straight from the cow that morning and I let it sit in my trunk for two hours. At least the eggs are still good though, right? I'm just living proof that you can spend extra on groceries and still manage to waste half of them because your refrigerator game is trash.

Tyler, you seriously left raw milk in a hot trunk for two hours and wondered why it went bad? That's not a refrigerator issue, that's a common sense issue. Did you check the temperature in your trunk that day or just assume it would magically stay cold? Eggs might be fine if they didn't suffer the same heat stroke, but I'm worried about your food safety instincts. Next time maybe buy a cooler bag or just drink the milk right there in the parking lot like a normal person.

Nah, the farmer's market eggs lasting longer makes sense but it's not really about free-range vs store brand. The real difference is how old the eggs were when you bought them - store eggs can sit on shelves for weeks before you even get them. The farmer's market ones were probably laid a day or two before you bought them, so you're just getting a head start on the clock.
