My pressure cooker seal split right before I was making a big batch of beans
Happened last Tuesday night. I was about to cook two pounds of dry pinto beans to freeze for the week. Heard a weird hiss, then steam everywhere. The rubber ring had a clean tear right down the side. Had to move everything to my big stock pot, which took over two hours instead of 25 minutes. Wasted a bunch of gas on the stove. New seal is $12 online, but shipping makes it almost $20. Thinking of just buying a whole new basic model for $40. Anyone have a good source for cheap replacement parts, or a brand that doesn't fail like this?

Actually, that hiss is a safety feature. It means the pressure release is working like it should. A split seal is better than a cooker that doesn't vent at all.
