Thought I'd save money by growing my own herbs on the windowsill.
Bought a basil plant from the grocery store for $3.99. It got huge, then all the leaves turned bitter overnight. My pesto tasted like medicine. Learned that basil bolts if it gets too hot. Anyone know a good, cheap herb that won't freak out in the sun?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me last year! It's so disappointing when you're excited for fresh herbs and they just turn on you. @amybarnes has a good point about rosemary, that stuff is tough as nails. I've had luck with thyme too, it seems to handle the heat without getting weird. Maybe give that a shot next.
