Pro tip: I see a lot of new folks in the shop not letting their punty seals cool enough before moving on.

It leads to cracking at the joint, and I learned that the hard way after losing a whole set of goblets in my first year. How long do you all let yours set before you start the transfer?

My buddy had this exact problem last month. He was rushing a wine glass stem transfer and the punty was still glowing a little inside. The whole thing just popped right off the pipe when he went to crack it. We could hear the crack from across the studio. He lost a full day's work because he was too eager to move on. It's a tough lesson to learn but you really have to wait for that heat to even out completely.

Wait, he could hear the crack from across the room? That's a crazy loud thermal shock. How thick was that stem connection?

Imagine hearing that pop from the other side of the room and just knowing his whole day was ruined. Honestly, that's the universe charging a brutal impatience tax. Ngl, I bet he waits for that punty to cool down to room temp now.
