I used to think you needed a perfect sketch before opening Illustrator, but now I just start with basic shapes.
My process changed after a client in Chicago needed a logo in 48 hours, and I discovered building directly in the program was ten times faster. Has anyone else ditched the pencil and paper phase completely?

Totally ditched the pencil years ago. I just open Illustrator and start blocking things out with rectangles and circles. It feels more like real building, and you can experiment way faster. That 48-hour crunch sounds brutal, but it forces you to find a better workflow.

Forget building, @andrew854, you're just moving prefab parts.

Real talk though, prefab or not it still gets the job done. Better than just talking about it.
