Just got told my color palettes were too safe by a client
I was showing a branding draft for a new coffee shop in Portland, using a lot of browns and greens. The client looked at it and said, 'This feels like every other cafe. Where's the surprise?' I went back and swapped the main green for a bright, unexpected coral. The whole mood of the design changed and felt way more alive. Has anyone else had a client push them out of their color comfort zone?

Honestly, that's how you find the best stuff sometimes. It's like when you get stuck in a rut with your own wardrobe, just wearing black and gray, and a friend makes you try on a bright yellow shirt. You'd never pick it, but it actually looks great and makes you feel different. A little push from outside can shake up your whole way of seeing things. That coral probably made the brand feel friendly and full of energy in a way safe greens never could. Clients can spot when we're just doing what we always do.

Tbh I get what @lily_dixon27 is saying, but sometimes clients just chase trends and you end up with a design that feels forced.
