My cold email open rate hit 37% after I stopped personalizing every single one, which goes against everything the gurus say.

I focused on a killer subject line and clear value in the first line instead of wasting time on 'Hi [Name], I saw you...' and it doubled my replies in a month, so has anyone else found personalization to be overrated for initial outreach?

Yeah, the "killer subject line" thing is real. My friend runs a small agency and she had the same experience. She spent hours on personal intros and got nothing, then switched to just a super clear offer in the first line and her replies went way up.

Wait, didn't a marketing newsletter recently say personalization is dead for first contact? They argued that with inbox overload, people scan for the offer, not a fake friendly intro. Your numbers seem to prove that point.

Totally agree with both of you. I learned this the hard way last year. People just want to know what you're offering and why it matters to them right now. Skip the "I saw your post about..." intro and lead with the clear benefit. It feels less personal but gets way more opens because it respects their time. My reply rate doubled when I stopped trying to be clever and just got to the point.
