Question about a cold email tip that backfired

My friend told me to send 500 cold emails a day for my startup, saying volume was key. I did that for a month and my domain got flagged as spam, tanking our deliverability. It took another month and a new domain to fix the mess. The advice sounded good but hurt more than it helped. What's a better way to do cold outreach without getting blacklisted?

Honestly, 500 a day is the only way to make the numbers work. Your domain got flagged because you probably used a bad email list or a crappy template. The real issue is you gave up after one month. You gotta warm up the domain slowly, use a good email service, and split test your copy. Blaming the volume is just an excuse for poor execution.

Lee's totally right about warming up the domain, that's step one. Most people skip it and then wonder why their emails land in spam. A good list and clean template matter way more than just blasting out huge numbers. You really do need to test different subject lines and content for at least a few months to see what actually works. Giving up early just means you wasted all that setup time for nothing.

Warm up the domain slowly" is the part that gets me. You're telling people to spend weeks or months gently sending emails before they can even start their actual campaign? That's a full time job with zero pay. Most of us don't have a separate domain just to babysit for a quarter before we see a single real result.
