PSA: that $80 lobster roll at the Kittery rest stop was not worth it

Paid $19 for what looked like a good deal on Memorial Day weekend, but it was mostly bread and mayo with three tiny claw pieces. Anyone else get burned by tourist trap food prices near the border, or did I just pick the wrong spot?

My buddy Mike grabbed one of those $80 lobster rolls at the Kittery rest stop last Father's Day. He was so excited, said it was gonna be the highlight of his trip up to Portland. I mean, he paid for it and everything, and then when he opened the box it was like this super thin roll with barely any lobster. He told me there were maybe four tiny pieces of claw meat and the rest was just filler. He was so bummed he didn't even finish it, just threw half away. So yeah, @leow90 is right, those tourist spots near the border are total ripoffs. Better off finding a dive with paper plates.

Used to think you were overpaying for the "experience" or whatever, but nah, you're onto something. Last summer I grabbed a "lobster roll" at a place near Hampton Beach for $22 and it was basically a hot dog bun with mayo and three sad little pieces. Felt like a total sucker. Now I just go to a proper seafood shack with paper plates and plastic forks, way better quality for half the price.
