Switched my meetup from coffee shop to a brewery and got 3x the RSVPs

I kept getting 5 people showing up to my Tuesday morning networking at Starbucks in Irvine, so I moved it to a brewery in Tustin on a Thursday evening and had 18 people RSVP in two days. Anyone else find that the location and time makes way more difference than the actual topic?

Moved my Thursday game night from Starbucks to a dive bar and got 20 people instead of 3.

Wait, am I the only one confused about what's "not quite right" here? You're celebrating getting people to show up, but the real trick might be that dive bars don't usually have the same WiFi as Starbucks for game apps. Just hope nobody needs online access for their cards or rules, lol.

I used to think the exact same way @rosek44, that you needed a quiet place with good wifi for game nights. Totally changed my mind though after trying it myself. People just want a spot where they can hang loose and not feel rushed out, which is what you get at a dive bar. They bring their own physical cards and boards, so the wifi thing barely matters. Half my group actually prefers it over Starbucks now because the drinks are cheaper and the vibe is way more relaxed. You'd be surprised how many folks will show up if the only expectation is having a good time.
