Have you seen those repair cafes popping up? I read a local news piece about one where people bring in broken stuff and volunteers help fix it with donated parts bins. It's the same idea as your laptop salvage, just a community version. @paule53 fixing that coffee maker is exactly what they do, saving tons of small appliances. That kind of sharing parts and skills cuts down on so much electronic trash. It makes fixing things feel less lonely too.
