After my neighbor tasted my dry scones...

Brushing syrup on scones does keep them moist, but it also gives them a shiny glaze that might not be for everyone. I tried it once and ended up with scones that were almost too soft, losing that slight crumbly texture scones should have. You could mix a little lemon juice into the syrup to cut the sweetness if that's a concern. It's a good fix for dry batches, but maybe not for every time you bake them.

A hangar audit turned my view on torque wrenches upside down

Digital wrenches have come a long way, and they're usually very reliable. I get why @beth477 is worried, but one missed cue doesn't mean the digital system is broken. Analog tools can fail too, like when they get worn out or aren't calibrated right. It might be that the digital sensor had a glitch, but that's rare in my experience. Both types have their uses, and it's smart to double-check with different methods sometimes.

Rant: My crew rolls their eyes when I stop to speak with curious neighbors.

That "free quality control" line is spot on. I read a case study about a town that fixed a budget hole just by setting up a simple online form for reporting potholes. I mean, people see stuff every day that planners just miss.
