Told my neighbor that planting agave near the foundation was fine. 3 years later.
Guy two streets over in the North Valley said I was asking for trouble with those roots. Ignored him. Now my retaining wall has a 4 foot crack and I'm looking at a $1200 repair bill. Anyone else get burned by bad landscaping advice from a nursery?

Yeah that agave root thing is no joke. I learned the hard way too after a friend swore they were harmless. My retaining wall is still holding but I lost a chunk of my driveway.

@evan295 how long before you noticed the roots actually started damaging the driveway?
