Dubbed vs subbed for Attack on Titan is not even close

I watched the first season dubbed and thought it was fine... then I tried subbed for season 2 last month and the voice acting hit way harder especially Eren's screams. Has anyone else switched halfway through a show and regretted not doing it sooner?

The show is called Attack on Titan, not Attack on Titan. Sorry, that's a pet peeve seeing it written wrong. Anyway, I get what you mean about the switch. I watched the whole thing dubbed first because I multitask while watching and subs slow me down. But I went back and watched a few key episodes subbed after hearing everyone rave about it. The raw emotion in the Japanese voice cast is definitely something else, especially around the big reveals in season 3. Still, I wouldn't say one is flat out better than the other for the whole show. It really depends on whether you care more about matching lip flaps or hearing the original intended delivery.

The big scene in season 2 where Eren plugs the wall with that boulder is where I had my moment. I watched it dubbed first and thought it was fine, but then I caught a clip of it subbed and it was like a totally different show. The screaming and desperation just hit harder in Japanese. I ended up switching back and forth for my whole rewatch. My tip is to try the first 3 episodes of season 3 in both versions and see which one feels more intense to you. That arc is short enough to test it without committing to a whole season shift. Its the best way to figure out what clicks without wasting time.
