Had my lawn mower die mid-job last Thursday

I was halfway through a big property in Arlington, about 3 hours in, when my mower just quit. No sputter, no warning, just dead silence. Turns out the fuel filter was completely clogged with what looked like sand. I spent 45 minutes swapping it on the side of the road and got back to work, but the client was already texting me asking if I was coming back. Has anyone else had a machine fail at the worst possible time?

Oh man... that's rough. My buddy Dave had his zero-turn die right in the middle of a big hill, like halfway down this steep slope in some rich guy's backyard. He had to wedge a rock under the wheel to keep it from rolling into the pond while he called a buddy with a truck to tow it out. Took him like two hours and the client was standing at the kitchen window watching the whole thing...

Wait, is your buddy Dave charging by the hour or something? Because it sounds like the client got a free two-hour show of a guy struggling with a mower. Dave could have just rolled that thing into the pond, collected the insurance check, and told the client it was "landscaping feature maintenance." Honestly, if I were the client, I would've been out there with a lawn chair and some popcorn, not standing at the window staring like a weirdo. Sounds like a win to me.
