I thought the hype around that new show 'Sakura's Echo' was just bots, but after my friend in Portland forced me to watch the first 3 episodes, the animation in that fight scene at 18 minutes into episode 2 completely changed my mind.

Has anyone else been totally blindsided by a show they were sure they'd hate?

Yeah that happens. Went in expecting to hate that cooking show everyone was obsessed with. Now I know way too much about competitive baking.

Saw a post on Reddit last week calling it a "mid-tier clone" of an older anime. People were ripping it apart in the comments. Then another thread popped up where someone broke down that exact fight scene frame by frame. Said the director studied Bruce Lee's actual choreography for six months. Made me curious enough to torrent it last night. Yeah, that 18 minute mark hit different. The way the sakura petals sync with the sword movements? Almost cried.
