Warning: I lost a full day's pay on a paint job because of a bad batch of clear coat

I was finishing a 2018 Ford F-150 hood repair last week, and the clear coat I sprayed on turned milky overnight. The can was from a new case I just opened, and it looked fine when I mixed it. I had to sand the whole thing back down and redo it, which cost me about $400 in lost time and materials. Has anyone else had a clear coat go bad straight from the supplier, and what did you do about it?

Man, that's brutal. I've had a can go bad like that before and it's such a gut punch. The supplier should definitely cover your materials at least.

Ugh, it really is the worst feeling. I lost a whole batch of clear coat once because the hardener was bad. Just watching your work turn to garbage is so frustrating. They better make it right for you.

Oh man, that's the worst. It reminds me of the time I bought a new spray gun and the stupid air cap was machined wrong from the factory. It put a wild pattern down no matter what I did, totally ruined a door jamb. Had to eat that one.
