TIL my extended warranty actually paid off after a busted transmission in Phoenix
Honestly, I bought a third-party warranty on my 2015 Ford Escape back in 2020 and always figured it was a scam. Last month the transmission started slipping bad on the I-10 near downtown, and the shop quoted me $4,200 for a rebuild. Ngl, I was shocked when the warranty company approved the claim and covered all but a $100 deductible. Has anyone else had a good experience with one of these plans, or did I just get lucky?

Man, $3,800 for a turbo job on a 2014 Cruze is wild. Makes me wonder if those warranty companies even know what they're doing half the time. I swear, my luck with warranties is the total opposite. @the_jordan, you got a $900 AC fix, that's pretty solid. Me? I bought an extended warranty on a used car once and it covered exactly nothing, not even a loose gas cap. Turbochargers seem like a ticking time bomb on those Chevy engines anyway. You got your money's worth for sure, but I'd still be nervous every time I hit the gas after that.
