Can we talk about how long it takes to close an old business account?

I ran into a problem last month trying to close a checking account I opened for a side gig in 2018. It took over 2 hours on the phone and three separate visits to a branch before they finally processed it. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of runaround just to close an account?

Cut straight to the branch manager and ask for the business account closure form. They usually have a specific form you have to fill out in person, and the tellers don't know about it. I had the same issue with a small biz account I opened for freelance work back in 2019. It took me four tries before a manager finally told me about the form. Once you fill it out, they have to process it within 10 business days by law. Also make sure you have your old EIN or tax ID number handy they always ask for that.

Kinda feels like y'all are making this a bigger deal than it needs to be. It's a bank account not a mortgage. Send them a letter or call once, if they drag their feet just leave it with zero balance and move on.
