TIL there's a real split on whether you should grease pedal threads or not
At a group ride last month, one guy swore I was wrecking the crank by greasing pedals, while a mechanic I know says dry threads are just asking for seizing. Which side are you on and have you actually seen a crank fail from either method?

Your buddy with the sawed-off crank is exactly why I always grease mine.

Had a buddy who never greased his pedals and ended up having to saw the crank arm off to get them out. Took him hours and cost him a new crank anyway. Meanwhile another friend greases everything and has never had a pedal seize up, so I'm team grease all day.
