Just tossed $120 on a cheap anvil. Huge mistake.

Bought it off Facebook Marketplace. Looked fine in pics. First heat treat crack appeared after 3 hours. Surface is soft, dents everywhere. Should've saved for a real one. Anyone else get burned by a budget anvil?

First heat treat crack appeared after 3 hours." Man, THREE hours? That is brutal. I would be so mad if I spent that kind of cash and got a dud that fast. It's like the thing was just waiting to fail the second you put any real work into it. The soft surface thing is even worse, you can't even fix that without a lot of work. You basically paid for a paperweight that looks like an anvil.

That anvil's about as useful as a chocolate teapot...

Man that really sucks, lol. $120 is still a decent chunk of change to just toss out the window like that. The thing that gets me is how fast it failed, like three hours is nothing for the price you pay in frustration alone. You definitely got a raw deal, and it's not like you can just return it to a guy on Facebook either. Hope you can at least get some of your money back selling it for scrap or something, but that's still a tough loss to swallow.
