My book club nearly fell apart over the ending of 'Piranesi'
Last month at our meeting in the back room of Brew & Books, three people walked out because they thought the ending was too hopeful and two others said it was the only way it could end. I was stuck in the middle, but then I read a blog post from a literature professor at University of Oregon (she broke down the labyrinth symbolism) and now I totally side with the hopeful ending crew. Has anyone else had a book that split their group right down the middle like that?

right, because nothing says "fun book club" like a philosophical breakdown over a labyrinth ending turning into a full-on walk out. i bet the professor's blog saved you from being the tiebreaker nobody asked for. honestly, sounds like your group needs a solid "no spoiler arguments before wine" rule.

That one time my friend stormed out of a movie because someone debated if the main character was actually a ghost the whole time.
