Went to the library in Portland and saw the book club pick for next month

It was a new sci-fi book that got a big award. I looked at the summary and it's over 700 pages long. That's a huge ask for a group that meets once a month. The last time they picked a book that big, half the people didn't finish it. How do you all handle it when your club picks a massive book?

Remember when our club tried to read Infinite Jest?

Our Portland club splits books over 500 pages across two months.

700 pages for a book club is a war crime. My group would just meet to complain about how we're only on chapter three.
