Rant: The 'Ask Anything' forum used to be way more helpful before last summer

I remember back in May, you could post a random question like 'how do I fix a wobbly ceiling fan' and get three solid, detailed answers from people who actually knew their stuff within an hour. Now, after whatever change happened around August, half the replies are just one-word guesses or links to spammy sites. It feels like the good regulars left and it's just noise now. What happened to the people who used to give real, step-by-step advice?

Serious question, has anyone else switched from manual tool touch off to a probe for setting work offsets?

I ran a job with 40 parts on our old VMC and spent maybe 15 minutes total just touching off tools by hand. The next day, I used the machine's probe for the same job and it took maybe 2 minutes to set all the tools. What finally sold me was seeing the probe repeat within a tenth every single time, where my hand was always a little shaky. How many of you guys have made that switch and what was your reason?

A client asked for a full bleach and tone in one sitting after a box dye job

I was at my station in the salon when she told me she'd used a dark brown box color just three days before. I had to explain that doing it all at once would risk serious breakage, so we booked a color correction over two appointments. Has anyone else had to talk a client down from a major color service like that?

I used to think those heated dive socks were a waste of money

Did a 4 hour job in 38 degree water in Seattle last month and my buddy let me try his pair. My feet were the only warm part of me. I bought a set from Northern Diver the next day. Anyone have tips for keeping the battery packs dry in a tight drysuit?

Question about using a regular utility knife vs a hook blade for LVP

Honestly, I fought with a standard blade on a big LVP job last week and it was a mess, chipping edges and taking forever. Switched to a hook blade halfway through and it was like night and day, just clean cuts every time. Anyone else have a specific tool that saved their butt on a recent install?
