31 years actually, that's barely an accomplishment for a thermos. Mine is 43 years old and still keeps coffee hot for like 8 hours. I think people get way too hyped about these old Stanley things. They're just insulated metal jugs, not some kind of engineering miracle. There's thermoses from the 1940s that still work fine, so a 30 year old one is really nothing special. Honestly your dad probably just took decent care of it and didn't drop it off a ladder or something.

Oh come on @the_blair, what's with the gatekeeping? 31 years is still a solid run for anything you use every day. Does your 43 year old thermos still look brand new?
