I've been sharpening my chisels wrong for years and a client's comment clued me in
He asked why my edges looked 'frosted' and I realized my honing angle was off by maybe 5 degrees the whole time. Anyone got a foolproof trick for keeping that 25-degree angle consistent on a stone?

Oh man, that's the worst feeling. Been there with plane blades, just grinding away at the wrong angle for ages. A cheap angle guide from the hardware store saved my sanity, just a little plastic block that sits on the stone. Makes it totally brainless.

Feel like I need that guide just to figure out how to hold the thing straight. My freehand sharpening looks like a toddler tried to draw a line.

Hey, isn't the standard angle for chisels more like 30 degrees? That little plastic guide is a lifesaver for getting it right every time.
