Walking past the fancy grocery store made me see my pantry differently

Honestly, I was in the Whole Foods parking lot yesterday and saw a guy loading his cart with a single bag of fancy rice for $18. Tbh, it hit me that my local Asian market sells a 20-pound bag of jasmine rice for $15, and it lasts my family two months. I used to think those stores were just for special stuff, but their bulk bins and produce are way cheaper for basics. Has anyone else found a spot like that where the normal stuff is half the price?

Yeah, the ethnic grocery stores are a total game changer. I get all my spices and dried beans from this little Middle Eastern place for a fraction of the cost.

My friend got the best lamb at a halal butcher last week, way cheaper than the supermarket. It made me remember what @blair626 said about the Indian market, like these places just have better deals on specific stuff. The quality was so good she's never going back to the regular meat aisle.

Totally agree with @loganbaker about spices! I went to an Indian market for the first time last month and was shocked. A tiny jar of cumin at the regular store is like six bucks, but I got a whole bag there for two dollars. What other things have you guys found are way cheaper? Like, is there a specific vegetable or type of meat that's always a better deal at those smaller stores?
