Hot take: My old habit of letting the hose run while washing my dog was a huge waste

I was grooming a big Bernese Mountain Dog last Tuesday. Took about an hour. I had the hose on the whole time, just trickling to rinse my tools. Saw the water meter outside my shop window. It spun nonstop. Did the math later. That's over 60 gallons down the drain for one dog. My city has had drought warnings for months. Felt pretty dumb. How do other groomers or pet owners cut water use without messing up the job?
