My neighbor showed me his electric bill after installing solar panels

So I've been thinking about solar for a while but kept putting it off cause of the upfront cost. My neighbor across the street finally got panels installed about 8 months ago and last week he showed me his electric bill from July. He paid $12. I paid $187. That hit different seeing actual numbers from someone I know. He said the whole system cost him $14k after tax credits and he expects to break even in about 5 years. Kinda makes me wonder if I'm overthinking this.

Wait, have you actually looked into what warranties cover these days? I was worried about that too before I got my panels last year, but most systems come with a 25 year performance warranty and the inverters have a 12 year warranty at least. My installer told me the panels themselves are super tough and rarely fail, like they're tested to handle hail and heavy snow. I've had mine for about a year now and honestly the only thing I've had to do is hose them off once after a dry spell. What does your neighbor say about the maintenance side of things?
