Planting trees taught me about the climate patience problem

As a tree service owner, I've planted thousands of saplings that won't be full trees for decades. It's a lesson in patience. But with climate change, I hear two main arguments. One side says we must cut emissions right now, even if it hurts the economy. The other side argues that rushing could lead to bad choices and we should wait for better tech like carbon capture. I've seen how slow permit processes can delay green projects by years. It's frustrating when you know every year counts. So, which approach makes more sense? Do we go all in now or pace ourselves? I'd love to hear what you all think.

Watched my friend who installs solar panels fight with our town for two years over permits. They kept saying his plans needed more reviews while his customers got impatient and gave up. He finally got approved last month, but those two years of clean energy just vanished. Seeing that made me believe we can't afford to wait for perfect solutions when good ones are ready now.

Ever hear about my neighbor trying to install a small wind turbine in his yard? The city demanded six months of noise reports, claiming it might bother people, but it was quieter than his air conditioner. After all that hassle and cost, he just returned the turbine and gave up. Sometimes the rules seem designed to stop progress, not help it.

My cousin in Austin had the same permit fight for a year. Honestly, these delays just kill good projects.
