Remembering the week the air turned orange in Portland

Back in September 2020, the sky looked like a bad filter for five straight days from wildfire smoke. I couldn't let my kids play outside, and the air quality index hit 486, which is 'hazardous'. It made the whole climate problem feel very real and close to home. Has anyone else had a local event that suddenly made the issue click for them?

Man, that sepia car thing joseph932 mentioned is wild. It wasn't just the sky here, it was the light inside the house. Everything had this creepy orange glow, like someone put a tint on the sun. I remember my white walls looked peach colored all day. It felt like living on another planet for a week.

Bad filter" is right, my car looked sepia-toned for a week.

Wait, your car actually changed color? How does a filter even do that? That's way worse than just a bad photo.
