That dive in Port Fourchon where I learned hard way about current timing
I was working a job near Port Fourchon back in March, doing a pipeline inspection in about 60 feet of water. The tide shifted about 20 minutes into my bottom time, and I got pinned against some wreckage because I didn't check the current tables close enough. Took me almost 15 minutes to work my way free and get back to the shotline. Now I check the NOAA current predictions and local tide charts for every single dive, no shortcuts. Has anyone else had a close call like that from ignoring the tide schedule?

Add a boat hook to your kit next time. Makes freediving wrecks way safer.

Boat hooks saved my ass on the Benwood last year, @fisher.charlie.

30 feet down with a current running, trying to untangle a line off the Benwood wreck and a boat hook just gets in the way. I'd rather have a good dive knife and a buddy watching my back than mess with an extra pole.
