Wasted $300 on a “commercial grade” floor mat that fell apart in 3 months

I bought this heavy duty anti fatigue mat from a supply catalog back in February for our kitchen line. Looked great, thick rubber, promised to last years. By week 6 the edges started curling up and people kept tripping on it. By month 3 it was splitting right down the middle where the dishwasher stands. Emailed the company and they said wear and tear wasn't covered. Anyone found a mat that actually holds up near a dish station?

Did you look for mats with a beveled edge? Those tapered edges lay flat and don't curl up like the square cut ones do. I've seen kitchens go through three mats in a year before someone figured out that water and heat kill the adhesive layers fast. Maybe try a mat with drainage holes so the water from the dish station doesn't pool under it. Also check if the mat has a solid rubber construction instead of layered foam, that splitting happens when the layers separate.

Honestly I used to think all anti fatigue mats were basically the same, but that beveled edge point makes so much sense. I always wondered why my mats curled up after a few months and just assumed it was cheap quality. Gonna check if the mats I've been buying even have drainage holes, never even thought about that.

Ngl that splitting thing sounds like the rubber's recycled junk.
