A client's comment about her wedding hair made me stop and think
I was doing a trial run for a bride last week, and she said she wanted something that would look good in photos but also feel like 'her' when she moved. She told me, 'My last stylist gave me a perfect updo that looked stiff in every picture.' That hit different because I realized I sometimes focus too much on the look in the mirror and not how it moves and lives on the person. How do you all balance making styles that are camera-ready but still feel natural and comfortable for the client?

Wait, she said her last stylist gave her a style that looked stiff in every single photo? That's actually kind of wild to me. It means the hair wasn't just stiff for a minute, it was built to be a statue. The whole point is it has to work in real life, not just in a flat test shot. You have to build in some give and movement from the start, even with a lot of pins. Maybe using a bit less hairspray before the final set could help.

Seriously, did they use actual concrete instead of hairspray?
