Wasted 80 bucks on a cheap rigging sling from an online deal

I saw this ad for a bundle of synthetic slings at half the regular price, seemed too good to pass up. Figured I'd stock up for lighter lifts around the yard, save some cash you know. First job I used one on, lifting a 2 ton AC unit, the stitching started fraying after just one pick. Checked the tag closer and it didn't even have a proper WLL rating, just some generic number printed on it. I should've known better, but the price got me. Threw the whole batch in the trash, total loss. Anyone else get burned by those too good to be true web deals for gear?

Man I feel your pain, spent 45 bucks on "heavy duty" lifting straps off some flash sale website... first time I tried to lift a pallet of bricks the whole thing just snapped in half and dumped the load. Felt like the biggest idiot standing there holding the useless tag that said "5000 lb capacity" in tiny faded print. Learned my lesson the hard way, now I just stick to the name brand stuff from the industrial supply store even if it costs more. At least my wallet can only get hurt once instead of my pride and my gear both getting wrecked.

Got burned almost the exact same way last summer. Saw a "deal" on some web slings from a shady website, paid like 60 bucks for a set of four. First time I tried using one to lift a skid steer attachment, the sleeve started splitting right down the middle as soon as the load took tension. Lucky nobody was under it. I checked the tag after and it was some company I never heard of, no certification stamps or anything. I just pitched the whole lot in the dumpster and went back to buying from the local supply house.
