My basement sump pump hose popped off at 2 AM during a downpour

I was down there grabbing a tool when I heard a loud pop and saw water spraying everywhere from the PVC connection. I had to cut the power, dry the area, and use a new stainless steel hose clamp to secure it properly. What's the best way to check these connections before they fail?

Check the hose clamps every few months and tighten them before rainy seasons.

Seriously, how often do those things actually come loose though.

Yeah, the "before rainy seasons" tip from @ericnguyen is key. I learned the hard way that temperature changes make the plastic fittings shrink and expand, which slowly works the clamps loose. A quick check in spring and fall with a screwdriver saves a lot of hassle.
