Changed my tune on those cheap hydraulic hose kits after one blew on me

Spent about $120 on a generic brand last month and it failed under pressure yesterday, spraying fluid everywhere. What's a reliable hose brand you guys actually trust for daily use?

Yeah, those cheap kits are a gamble... I learned the hard way too. Had a hose burst on a log splitter, scared me half to death. Now I only use Gates hoses for anything that matters. They cost more but I've never had one let go, even on old equipment. It's just not worth the mess or the risk to save a few bucks.

Ever notice how the cheap hoses always seem to fail at the worst time? I read a piece that basically said you're paying for the pressure rating and the reinforcement layers, @phoenix_wells. Once you see a hose blow, it makes the extra cost for a good one feel pretty smart.
