Just realized I was bending conduit all wrong for 4 years
I used to bend my 90s by pulling hard on the bender handle until it felt right. Last month I was on a job in Portland and another electrician showed me how to line up the arrow mark on the bender with the conduit mark. Turned out I was overbending by about 10 degrees every time. Feeling dumb but also glad to finally get consistent bends. Has anyone else had a basic skill click way later than it should have?

Ha, @willow_garcia is right, that arrow trick is basically a cheat code. I did the same thing for years with my offsets, just eyeballing the bend and hoping for the best. Finally watched a quick video and felt like an absolute goof for not learning it sooner.

I read a post once where a master electrician said most people go years before someone finally shows them the right way to bend conduit. It's wild how much a Simple trick like lining up the arrow can save time and material. At least you caught it now instead of 10 years in.
