Shoutout to the old-timer in Philly who showed me the trick with a zip tie on a governor rope
I was stuck on a 1980s Dover traction job for hours until he walked by and said, 'Kid, loop it tight right below the sheave and you'll get your tension every time.'

That's a solid trick for a quick field fix, but be careful relying on it long term. A zip tie can wear through and snap if the governor rope keeps rubbing against it. Seen it happen on a few older Otis units where the tensioner was totally shot. What building was this Dover in?

Yeah, heard the same thing about zip ties wearing down fast. That governor rope can really chew through them if the tension's off.

Right, @zara_hill46? I had one shear off after maybe two weeks on a sticky Kone governor.
