Neighbor laughed at my caulking job - turns out he was right

I spent last Sunday re-caulking my bathroom tub and my neighbor walked by and pointed out I was smoothing it with my finger instead of using a tool. He showed me how a simple $2 caulk smoothing tool makes it look way cleaner in half the time. Has anyone else found a cheap tool that made a bigger difference than you expected?

Bought one of those cheap plastic corner trowels for drywall mud and it made my corner beads look like a pro did them. I was using a putty knife before and getting weird ridges. The corner trowel was like 4 bucks and saved me so much sanding time lol.

My buddy said the same thing, his corners looked way cleaner after.

Ditched my old putty knife finally and grabbed a cheap corner trowel at the hardware store for like 5 bucks. Total game changer. I used to get these nasty bumps and uneven spots on the inside corners that took forever to sand down. First time using that trowel on a closet project, the mud laid on smooth and even, no ridges at all. Seriously wish I had bought one years ago instead of fighting with a putty knife.
