I fixed mine in 20 minutes with a $5 plunger from the hardware store... it made me realize how often we call a pro for simple stuff. What's the easiest fix you've done that saved you a big bill?

I mean, sometimes it's just about having the right tool. I fixed my car's rattling heat shield with a cheap hose clamp instead of paying a mechanic to look at it.

Honestly that's a smart fix, but hose clamps can rust out pretty fast near the heat shield. Phoenix625 had the right idea with indoor plumbing stuff, that's way more permanent.
