That fancy cable management box cost me $45 and does nothing
I bought one of those big plastic cable management boxes to hide my power strip and cords under my desk. But it traps heat and now my laptop charger keeps shutting off from overheating. Anyone else find a better way to hide cords that actually works?

Try mounting your power strip to the bottom of the desk with heavy duty velcro strips instead of hiding it in a box. The airflow keeps everything cool while still keeping wires out of sight.

Serves you right for trying to be all fancy with your cable management lmao. That $45 box is basically a slow cooker for electronics. My buddy had the same issue and his power brick almost melted a hole in his carpet. Ditch the box and just zip tie the cables to the underside of your desk going straight to the floor. You get the clean look without suffocating anything. Sure you'll still see a few wires but at least your charger won't go into thermal shutdown mid-game. Sometimes the cheap solution is actually the smart one.

@ericnguyen nailed it. Those boxes are just heat traps waiting to fry something. Zip ties under the desk is the way to go, keeps things tidy without cooking your gear.
